Many of you may ask, Why ANTICIPATION? Well lets break it down shall we:

An⋅tic⋅i⋅pa⋅tion [an-tis-uh-pey-shuhn] -noun
1. realization in advance, intuition; foretaste.
2. Musically - a tone introduced in advance of its harmony so that it sounds against the preceding chord.

Musically, I'm currently in a creative space like no other. I feel as though whenever a mic is put in front of me, I can do no wrong. At a time in the music industry where album sales are low, fans are fickle, inconsistent, or more into the various songs than they are the particular artist, I feel that I must give you a reason to love me. Embed in you a desire to love me and an appreciation for the music. I must show you that not only do I LOVE what I do but I also do it well.

The creation of ANTICIPATION began after I presented READY to my label the first time. I just started recording on my days off and the music felt great and decided that I'd rather share the music than let it sit and be idle. This is music without politics, without creative boundaries.

Troy (my mentor and founder & CEO of Songbook Ent.) and I have been making music since I was 15. There was a time when thoughts of monotonous melodies or redundant choruses weren't THE KEY to making a hit record. Music that just felt good. Although they're present at times the boundaries are endless in this body of work, giving you a (1) realization in advance to READY.

What do I mean by READY? Well, lets do this one more time.

Read⋅y [red-ee] –adjective
1. completely prepared or in fit condition for immediate action or use

I like to say don't get READY...STAY READY!!! But until then...Here is ANTICIPATION...
WHAT YOU WAITIN ON!? Are you READY?

LOL :) This time don't wait 'til Halloween. If you haven't already, I encourage everyone to find that white glove that we all have hidden in our drawers somewhere, put it on, and raise it high. Its true we're all sad but its time lift your head up put on your favorite MJ record and "ROCK THE NIGHT AWAY!!!" ITS TIME TO CELEBRATE!!!

MICHAEL JACKSON "NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE"

First the facts. Nearly two weeks before Michael Jackson was scheduled to revive his career...You know what, forget all that. The news can give you logistics and by now I'm sure everyone knows. In fact, I think it would be safe to say that you are not human if the news of MJ's death doesn't effect your heart in some way. To say that this moment is surreal would be an understatement. Let's take a moment to reflect.

Some say the "King of Pop" but lets just be real. Michael Jackson is the King of Music as we know it today. He's the greatest entertainter to ever live. I use to kinda joke around and say that when a baby was born, he/she would know Michael Jackson. All of your favorite artists today listened to, appreciated, and in some way were influenced by his music. If I made a list the names would take up the whole page, every genre included. We all can recite numerous lyrics and with over 750 million records sold to this day I'm sure most of the world could sing as one. Take a moment to think, When was the first time you did the moonwalk or spun around in your mirror? How many times did you do the signature MJ scream, Wooohooo, Heeeheee!? Is it possible to even count the number of us who dressed up like Mike for Halloween? Or even portrayed him in talent shows? Won dance contests with his moves? From 5yrs old to the elders whose time is almost up, we KNOW Michael Jackson. Some of us have painted different pictures in our mind when we think of him but whatever picture you paint, its a masterpiece that's left an impression in our hearts and in music as we know it. TODAY, June 25th 2009, will forever be, "The Day that Michael Jackson Died". You'll remember where you were and how you felt at the exact moment when you heard those words. Michael Jackson's LIFE was music so whichever picture above represents MJ in your lifetime, remember him well.

There's no way I could do justice sharing all the moments we remember in one post, so let's do it together. Share you favorite MJ song, moment or experience. Lets pay respect where it's due and know that he's in a better place with our true KING, our Lord and Savior. Rest in Peace brotha.

Chris Brown Reaches Plea Bargain For Felony Charges

After initially pleading 'not guilty' in the initial court hearing, today Chris Brown, his lawyers and the Los Angeles district attorney's office reached a plea bargain in which he pleaded guilty to felony assault charges. According to CNN.com the deal includes 5 years probation and 180 days of labor intensive community service which measures out to over 1,400 hrs of service.

Not condoning the behavior at all but whether the mistakes small or large, we ALL make them. Some forgiven by 'man' and some not. Ultimately, God is the judge.

GENESIS

Genesis - the beginning of it all. I was a kid with big dreams. At the age of 15, I met Troy Taylor, My Producer, Mentor and founder of Songbook Ent. He lived in Jersey while I was a high school student living in Virginia. We kept contact throughout the school year & I'd come to Jersey for whatever school breaks we had AND the summers to hone what had now become my craft. While I loved music, like anybody does, making music was new to me. You will hear the Immaturity and youth in my voice, you'll hear me learning how to record. This is Trey Songz PRE - Gotta Make It. Most of the songs you will hear were recorded in a basement in Teaneck, New Jersey. I slept on a fouton, I woke up to loud music and was made to think of melodies and concepts before I washed my face or brushed my teeth. I could make 10 bucks stretch for 2 weeks because I'd rather not burden my mother. I drove a 88 Honda Accord that had 2 different color doors with no radio back and forth from VA (or Baltimore) to Jersey. This is only one chapter of my story, you'll learn more as we grow together. I want my fans to know my musical path, know the work I put in and see my growth. Know that ANYTHING is possible. If u believe in YOU like no one else could ever have a work ethic to match and u cannot be stopped. With that being said...I give you GENESIS.

DEATH OF AUTOTUNE KELLZ MY RESPONSE

First off, anyone who is familiar with my history knows I'm a HUGE R. Kelly fan & have been inspired by him since my early beginnings musically. So while some may take this as disrespect, those who truly listen to the lyrics will understand my urging him to go harder. I've been compared to R. Kelly since my career began while we all can recall R. Kelly stepping on the scene sounding AND looking JUST like Aaron Hall. He demolished his sound and then went on to build his own which was a mixture of many others. We all are familiar with his signature adlib "Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh" which he grabbed from Lenny Williams & let's not forget the "Bump & Grind" remix which started his Isley Brother's Vibe. Soon enough he assisted Ron Isley in becoming Mr. Biggs & while keeping Ronald close he kept him on his toes. The R. Kelly we all grew to love was innovative, witty, & trendsetting. If you were to say that R. Kelly has excited you musically as of late, I would question your ears. When I heard JayZ's "Death of Autotune" my first thought was when will R. Kelly stop using it; The King of R&B with a autotune filled mixtape (not to mention a auto tuned "Double Up" album) disappoints me. If throwing rocks at the throne wakes up the King, consider them thrown.

I just want R. Kelly back...

Will Trey Songz Surpass R. Kelly As The King Of Remixes? Published by MTV News on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 3:44 pm.

Trey Songz

R&B singer Trey Songz’s third album, Ready, was supposed to drop this June, but it’s been pushed back to August. However, Songz is still working hard in the studio, releasing remixes of today’s hottest songs via Twitter. Some include BeyoncĂ©’s “Ego” and Cassie’s “Must Be Love,” as well as hits he renamed, like Jeremih’s “Birthday Sex” to “First Date Sex” and Pleasure P’s “Boyfriend #2″ to “Girlfriend Can Come 2.” Since then, his fans and followers on Twitter have compared him to R. Kelly, who is also known for his remixes of popular tracks.

R. Kelly was recently featured on Mixtape Daily ->
Mixtape Daily for his first-ever mixtape called The Demo Tape, a way of reintroducing himself to fans before his new album is released. Collaborating with DJ Skee and DJ Drama, Kells remixed Lil Wayne and Young Money’s “Every Girl,” a track Trey also remixes and released on Twitter. So who did it best?

I asked a few people in the newsroom to listen to both versions (I also warned them about the explicit lyrics!) and took a poll of whose remix was better. Devout R. Kelly fans couldn’t even get past the first five lines of Trey’s version because it’s simple — R. Kelly is R. Kelly.

Those who preferred Trey’s version thought Trey had better vocals and lyrics. Trey’s wordplay was more clever because he has something to prove, whereas R. Kelly’s lyrics were uninspired (kind of resting on his reputation), and his use of Auto-Tune makes him seem dated.

Even though folks in the newsroom chose sides, the general consensus was that if Trey were to sing R. Kelly’s lyrics, he wouldn’t be taken seriously. Trey’s style reminds us of R. Kelly in his prime. We can’t forget that R. Kelly has an amazing track record of remixes!

So is R. Kelly still the King of Remixes, or should he watch his back for Trey Songz?

Trey Songz Will Reveal His Beginning With "Genesis" Original Works From The Demo That Began His Career

“GENESIS” The Prequel to Trey Songz Debut Album “I Gotta Make It” Will Be Available for Download June 15, 2009 To Introduce Fans To The Birth of His Career With Atlantic Records

(Worldwide)- On June 15, 2009 Trey Songz will release his original demo that landed him a deal with Atlantic Records. “Genesis” will include songs like “About the Game” a track that was featured on the Bathing Ape website and on the Coach Carter soundtrack prior to his first album “I Gotta Make It” with Atlantic Records.

Trey Songz is known for being very personal in the sense that he allows his fans to experience certain aspects of his life that are otherwise unavailable to the general public. He will take this even further on June 15, 2009 when he releases “Genesis” which is a mixtape comprised of his original demo that struck him the deal with Atlantic records in 2004. This mixtape will be available for free download as Trey shares even more of himself with his fans. In support of “Genesis” Trey Songz is in the works of planning a mixtape tour where he will also perform songs from his highly anticipated third album “Ready” which will be available in stores and online on August 4, 2009.

ABOUT TREY SONGZ: In 2005, a young man with a voice far beyond his years stepped onto the scene before the world was equipped for one of his kind. With the release of "Trey Day" his sophomore release on Atlantic Records last fall, it is clear that Trey Songz is here for the long run. After much success for the single, "Can't Help But Wait," Trey received his first BET Award nomination in 2008. Just recently Trey Songz was featured in the GAP Merry Mix It Commercial for the 2008 Holiday Campaign and also received his first Grammy nomination. For more information on Trey Songz visit his website at www.treysongz.com or www.myspace.com/treysongz . Also follow him on Twitter @songzyuuup.
