MICHAEL JACKSON "NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE"

First the facts. Nearly two weeks before Michael Jackson was scheduled to revive his career...You know what, forget all that. The news can give you logistics and by now I'm sure everyone knows. In fact, I think it would be safe to say that you are not human if the news of MJ's death doesn't effect your heart in some way. To say that this moment is surreal would be an understatement. Let's take a moment to reflect.

Some say the "King of Pop" but lets just be real. Michael Jackson is the King of Music as we know it today. He's the greatest entertainter to ever live. I use to kinda joke around and say that when a baby was born, he/she would know Michael Jackson. All of your favorite artists today listened to, appreciated, and in some way were influenced by his music. If I made a list the names would take up the whole page, every genre included. We all can recite numerous lyrics and with over 750 million records sold to this day I'm sure most of the world could sing as one. Take a moment to think, When was the first time you did the moonwalk or spun around in your mirror? How many times did you do the signature MJ scream, Wooohooo, Heeeheee!? Is it possible to even count the number of us who dressed up like Mike for Halloween? Or even portrayed him in talent shows? Won dance contests with his moves? From 5yrs old to the elders whose time is almost up, we KNOW Michael Jackson. Some of us have painted different pictures in our mind when we think of him but whatever picture you paint, its a masterpiece that's left an impression in our hearts and in music as we know it. TODAY, June 25th 2009, will forever be, "The Day that Michael Jackson Died". You'll remember where you were and how you felt at the exact moment when you heard those words. Michael Jackson's LIFE was music so whichever picture above represents MJ in your lifetime, remember him well.

There's no way I could do justice sharing all the moments we remember in one post, so let's do it together. Share you favorite MJ song, moment or experience. Lets pay respect where it's due and know that he's in a better place with our true KING, our Lord and Savior. Rest in Peace brotha.

I can't believe he is gone but his music will last beyond this generation. No one will ever forget Michael Jackson and the kids growing up will know him just from what an impact he's had on their elders lives. My favorite song by Michael is Butterflies from the Invincible album. It may not be a classic but that song speaks volumes to me and gives me butterflies everytime I listen to it.

Rest In Peace Michael...the world may have lost their King of Music but we've all gained an angel.

When you share in someone's passion you feel like you know them because they're sharing a piece (or all) of their heart with you. I think thats why MJ touched so many..and to some extent, we feel like we knew him...like a cousin, a big brother, an uncle. So the news of his death hurts and the tears cant be counted. But his legacy lives on and we can all say that we knew a great man...he's matchless and timeless and his music will live on. My prayers are with the Jacksons. RIP MJ :-*

It is very tragic that we have lost a LEGEND today. I am very saddened by his death, but he is going home. Dispite the bad, he has done so much for my generation...our generation. Me and my five brothers grew up on him & his brother's music both group wise and solo wise. My prayers and condolences go out to his family, his parents, his brothers & sisters, and especially his three children. Rest in Love Michael Joseph Jackson!!!

You're right. This day will forever be the day that Michael Jackson died and even as I type these words it still isnt real to me. To say that Mike was larger than life is not enough for me. I will say that when I looked at him on television or heard a song on the radio to me he was more than a man; he embodied everything about music and the greatest part of music. His gift to the world is one that no one will ever be able to erase and no matter what is said about him the Michael Jackson I will remember is the one whose songs cossetted me when I felt sad and whose talent overshadowed the negativity around him.

Great blog! I think you said it so well. My heart really skipped a beat when they announced on BET that he died. R.I.P. Michael Jackson

My heart is so, so heavy right now. He will forever be THE Michael Jackson, THE Boy Wonder, THE Legend. There is no one greater and he did so many things well. They say jack of all trades, master of none. But Michael? That did not pertain to him: writer, singer, dancer, producer, performer, and damn well an actor I know you saw those many 10 minute long mini-movie videos.

It's just so sad. He feels like family, we got to see him grow up. It hurts and will for a while. Thank God I have his music, it's on my iPod, I have it on CD, cassette, and my mom has the vinyl. I will play it all yesterday, I will today, and will continue tomorrow.

There will never be another. And that was way longer than I thought it'd be.

I'll never forget the way Michael's music touched every single person in my family in one way or another. Michael was with us at every picnic, every family bbq, every birthday, every wedding soul train line, every milestone. His music brought joy to our hearts from my grandmother, to my little nieces who would jam to the beat as best as toddlers could. Today, when he passed, I just felt like something went missing. I know that through the rest of time MJ's legacy will carry on through the generations to come, because no matter what age, his ability to entertain, even in his passing, will carry on forever. RIP Michael you will truly be missed. Thank you for bringing us joy and something to sing about.

I'm sitting here watching the MJ marathon on BET and every video makes me smile but as soon as it goes off and the reality of it sets in it's painful. Micheal was a blessing to the world. He was truly a gift from God to us. His music touched everyone and i mean everyone. I dont think there is a handful of people in this country or possibly the world over the age of about 5 or 6 who don't know who this great man is....WAS. i feel this is just God's way of showing us that we all have an appointment with him. Even giants fall. all his BILLIONS of fans, all his money, all his awards, all his recognition...nothing can keep us from that day when we meet Our Father. I believe in my heart
Micheal was ready to meet him. he gave his life to entertain and inspire us....I pray he is in heaven in peace and that i too will be ready when my number is called.

I remember watching the "Remember the Time" video EVERY morning getting ready for school. That has to be my favorite video of all time. As I sit here and watch this tribute, all of these videos have clearly influenced every other major musical talent I enjoy. This is MAJOR and more than mourning the death it is important to celebrate the life. No matter what ANYONE says, MJ has always been and will always will be the BADDEST most talented entertainer that most of us have ever witnessed.

I grew up listening to Michael...loved all of his videos just as recent as Saturday I watched the Jacksons An American Dream amazed as if I was seeing it for the first time. Even though so many have criticized him and his lifestyle let's not forget how many people he has touched not only through his music but his charity work. He has given so much to so many and we need to celebrate those efforts...Even though it will be tough carry those memories and rejoice. He will never be forgotten and he will be apart of my life now and forever

I really, honestly, dont believe this.
I honestly think the MEDIA killed him.
I am so hurt, like I feel like I lost a really close family member.
I know we're not supposed to mourn his death, but remember his life and who he was, but its kinda hard to do that.
I actually CRIED.
Like the type of cryin, when youre just devastated and dont know what to do.
It really hit me when i turned to MTV Jamz and they played his song, "Gone too Soon".
Thats when i really broke down and cried.
I feel so blessed to actually grow up on this man, and Im only 19.
I remember watchin the movie Moonwalker and how MTV would show marathons of his videos all day. I remember bein scared as hell of Thriller. lol
I remember me bein 3 or 4 years old when his Remember The Time video came out, and i was tryin my hardest to keep up wit his dance moves.
I used to LOVEEE Michael Jackson, and i still do to this VERY day.
I sorta feel like what are we gonna do now?
Without MJ we wouldnt have not even HALF of the entertainers we have today. No Usher, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, nobody.
I really thought he wouldnt pass in our lifetime.
And this just literally came out of nowhere.
He truly almost seemed invincible.
And if you dont feel SOME type of remorse, even if you cant describe how you feel, then you have no heart.
Michael Jackson will NEVER die.
No matter how much they dragged his name thru the dirt, or they persecuted him.
Even outside of his music, this just goes to show he was HUMAN.
And that we should live our life, because its way too short.
I truly hope he is Resting in Peace.

There is no one in this world that will ever take his place. A musical genius, a remarkable dancer, a phenomenal entertainer and most of all The GREATEST entertainer in the last three decades, HANDS DOWN. He was an inspiration to me and a doorway for every little girl and boy who ever wanted to be a STAR. I had the the glove, did the moon walk, and belted billy jean with the best of them.
Songs like "They don't really care about us" and "Heal the world" define a generation of hurt and pain that M.J just wanted to find a way to fix.
He gave us music to dance to and taught us moves that, in our bedrooms, we were CONVINCED we could do. A man among many... M.J will be missed.
I remember having his sparkly glove that i would fold up and tuck away under all my clothes in a drawer because it only came out when i was putting on a show. I dreamed of one day being in the studio and having M.J write me a song and then sharing the stage with him and i never lost sight of that dream... until today.
Oh how i loved him so. I knew i was never really much of a dancer so i focused on the singing and i had that down PACT! Man i was ready at any moment to bust "I'LL BE THHH-YERRREEEEEE! OH iiIILLLLL BE THHHEEE-YEEERREEEE YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH! JUST CALL MY NA-A-A-ME, AND I'LL BE THERE!" Lmao! Man! And Forget about Billy jean! What! Them alternating light up side walk blocks AMAZED ME! And WHO COULD FORGET ABOUT BLACK OR WHITE! BABY! That was my Joint! I used to be doing my little African dances in my underwear and vest all over the house doing the "hee hee" grabbing my little crotch up and down the halls... Lol smh i'm dead serious though...
Man the list goes on and on! You rock my world, Bad, Beat it (which made me feel like a little OG everytime), Remember the time, Smooth Criminal (my JAM!), Rock with you, and so many more bring back smiles to my face. REal music and true heart wrenching and adrenaline pumping entertainment was what M.J lived for. The doors for the likes of Madonna, Usher, Beyonce, Destiny's Child, Try, Justin T., Lloyd, EVERY BOY GROUP after the Jackson five, modeled after him and did there best to replicate or build on the greatness that is Michael Jackson.... R.I.P M.J

Michael Jackson would be trully missed by all his fans of the world. No matter what religion, age or nationality you are, everyone knows at least more than one song by MJ. Michael Jackson's ability to bring all people together through his music is the most amazing accomplishment. I recall when I saw the "Thriller" video for the first time as a child. My eyes lit up to see how creative and unique this video was. Til this day I get that same feeling when I watch it. Once again, Michael Jackson R.I.P. his music will live on for years and years to come. MJ was and still is everyone's Elvis around the world.

And I smiled and thought of what a change he has brought to music, dance, and peoples lives of the many people who loves him. He will be the most missed artist since Elvis. Maybe way much more than Elvis. I pray his family has an easy time in their mourning. Today could honestly be said to be, "the day music died". At least in the hearts of people who didn't ridicule him for his mistakes, which all people could make. I wish the best for Michael Jackson and his family.--Chelsey Blankenship =)

Michael Jackson was the epitome of true pop talent. Though I personally was not around throughout the 80's, I have been heavily influenced my the art that was his music. Entertainer or not, each and every individual's life has been impacted by Michael. Even through all the drama that surrounded his life in the past few years, his music legacy prevailed and he was supported by his true and ultimate fans. These same fans, self-included, will keep his legacy alive forever. As Trey said, today will be forever known as the day a true musical legend passed. Mike you left us too early and you had so much to give, but your talent and your art will forever be alive because you are the definition of music. You are and always will be the king of pop. May you rest in peace always and forever.

My mom is BiPolar.
iUsed to be scared to be around her at times but one day iWas with her and she was singing [Remember the time] with my younger brother.
Even tho she was off her medication at the time, in tht moment tht song was the only thing keeping her holding on to her sanity, even if it was just for a few seconds.
That's such an AWESOME effect.
His music is a powerful entity.
It brings together young && old in a way that no one else's music could.
Not one person that you meet in this world can say they didnt know Micheal Jackson.
Third-world countries even knew his music.
They may not know the language but the power of that music got them, enticed them, brought out that MAGIC musicians (or any artist for that matter) strive for.
People can say what they want but the fact is Micheal Jackson is and always will be the most inovative && GREATEST musical mind of our or anyone's time.
God placed him here as the personification of those notes that hit your soul at just the right place and make you feel the music like no one else can.
We all have lost something great.
He will be remembered always.
He was, is, && always will be the greatest....
iLove you Micheal Jackson.... &&So does the world.

The first day of practice when it was time to sing everyone was cryng because it was such a touching song. I always loved him because no one was like him u may find many people dressin like him or tryin to dance like him but there was only 1 Michael J Jackson!! Even though I'm only 15 I grew up hearing MJ and my sis and I would always do his dance when he goes on his toes or when he throws his foot up etc. Trust me the world is crying right now because he was such a blessing and not just to the music world but to the many organizations he gave to!!! Trey your comments were wonderful and I'm tryna figure out when you haqd time to do all of that, lol. That shows me just how much you appreciate music and fans. I've loved MJ since I was a kid, and im probably a little older than most of the bloggers, lol. My favorite song is "In the Closet", I love the music, the video was awesome. I think your tribute was beautifully done. I was and still am in shock. I turned to 106 & Park and the first thing I see is how sad Terrence & Rocsi were and then they dropped the bomb. I was in instant tears. I didn't know him personally but I have been to his concerts and grew up listening to his music. I'm utterly speechless. God bless his family and his children.

I recall being 8 years old, wanting to grow up to be Mrs. Micheal Jackson...I had the posters, doll...the "Beat It" jacket...

this is truly a sad day.

There will never be another like you MJ, may you rest in peace.

I remember watchin the Jackson5 movie over and over as a child I knew that movie word for word...couldnt nobody do angela basset part like me...when she went to get the ice cream and pick up the phone outside...i still never get bored with that movie. it makes my heart tired when thinkin bout him not being here. i kno i didnt kno the man but i love him! without him most of the entertainers i love today would not be here. that man created a level that cant be touched. well my heart hurts right now and some tears are about to fall so i think i've said all i can say right now....R.I.P MICHAEL JACKSON MUAH! YOU KNOW WHAT I JUST THOUGHT ABOUT, ON MARCH 8 2009 I LOST MY BABE, MIKE {BIRTH NAME IDRIS MICHEAL JACKSON RIP} I HAVE DELT WITH MY SHARE OFDUDES AND BEEN IN A FEW RELATIONSHIPS BUT MY BABE, WHO I CALLED MIKEY...KNOWN TO MOST AS MIKE, WAS SPECIAL, I DIDNT CALL HIM "MY MAN" I CALLED HIM MY HUSBAND...
AS A LITTLE GIRL, I THINK I WAS FIVE, I STARTED SINGING, AND DANCING, I TOLD MY MOTHER "MOM IM GOING TO BE A SINGER SO I CAN MEET MY HUSBAND" SHE ASKED, "CHILD WHO IS YOUR HUSBAND?" AND I TOLD HER....MICHEAL JACKSON... I REMEMBER HAVING A VCR AND RECORDING MUSIC VIDEOS, I WOULD PLAY MICHEALS VIDEOS REPEATIDLY PRESSING PAUSE AND REWIND IN ORDER TO "MASTER" HIS CHOREOGRAPHY...
OVER THE YEARS, I FELL OUT OF LOVE {OBSESSION LOL} WITH MICHAEL AS A PERSON, THE LOVE I HAD FOR HIM WAS WAY BEYOND THAT OF A CHILDHOOD CRUSH, OR HUSBAND AND A WIFE...MY LOVE FOR MICHEAL JACKSON COULD BEST BE DESCRIBED AS HOW A SINNER'S LOVE IS FOR THE PREACHER THAT BLESSED THEM, AND LEAD THEM TO SALVATION...
I CAN HONESTLY SAY HE INFLUENCED ME IN A MYRIAD OF WAYS TO BECOME THE WOMAN THAT I AM TODAY, GOD FEARING, INTELLIGENT, AND WITH A LOVE FOR MUSIC THAT CAN NOT BE PUT INTO WORDS... I WOULDNT EVEN BEGIN TO TRY, YOU SEE WHAT MICHAEL DID, TO SOME CAN BE CLASSIFIED AS ENTERTAINMENT, BUT IN MY EYES...IT WAS MORE THEN THAT... IT WAS ART...
HANDS DOWN MICHAEL JACKSON IS THE GREATEST ARTIST TO EVER DO IT, HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE SHOWN IN MORE THAN JUST ACKOLADES...ITS PREVALENT IN ALL THE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF FANS FACES WHEN THEY HEAR THE "FEEL GOOD" SOUND THAT SOME CALL MUSIC, I MYSELF REFER TO IT AS ART....
LEGENDS DONT DIE, YOUR SPIRIT WILL FOREVER LIVE ON, LIKE YOUR MUSIC, YOU TRULY ARE TIMELESS....MY KIDS WILL SING YOUR SONGS, AS I DID, AND MY MOTHER DID, AND HER MOTHER, AND SO ON.... REGARDLESS OF WHAT GENRE OF MUSIC IS YOUR PREFERENCE IF YOU DO NOT FEEL SOME SORT OF COMPASSION AND GRATITUDE TOWARDS THIS GREAT MAN, YOU HAVE NO LOVE FOR MUSIC AT ALL... MICHEAL JACKSON WAS, IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE MUSIC...
THE BEST TO EVER DO IT....
PPL TRIED SO HARD TO BRING YOU DOWN, ITS SHAMEFUL, HE DIDNT SPOKE, HE WAS VEGATERIAN....HE DIED OF CHARDIAC ARREST? ONE THING I CAN SAY IS HE HAD A BEAUTIFUL SPIRIT, DESPITE THE THINGS HE ENDURED HE WAS ALWAYS PLEASENT, AND HE WAS ALWAYS SMILING....

REST IN PEACE...NOW YOUR SOUL CAN FLYY FREELY AND BEAUTIFULLY LIKE BUTTERFLIES...

Michael Jackson is one of the reasons why I love music today. My fondest/funniest memory of his influence on my life took place when I was six. I was dancing in my living room apartment along with the Thriller video. I got so enthusiastic that I jumped on my parents' glass coffee table and fell through it, shattering the glass, and leaving scars all over my body. Though it may not seem like it should be a great memory, it is something I would never forget, just like today. This is like this generation's assassination of JFK; you remember where you were and how you heard. Music, the WORLD, will NEVER be the same.

For some reason, I cannot cry that M.J. has passed away. Now before you call me insensitive, listen to this. Michael has done sooooo much for me in my lifetime and I'm talking beyond his music. I'm stating as an African American who desires to go over and beyond what the world has labeled as acceptable for my success. Michael has portrayed to me that I do not have worry about others opinions of me when I am striving for something that they have yet to understand. He has given me that confidence and beautiful songs to dance to while I utilizing it. Now who am I to weep when God wants that type of soul for himself. We had him, We loved him, and we continue to honor him but now we must let him go. Michael thank you for everything and may you find in heaven the peace some ppl down here never let you have...and for ole time sake "mama say mama sa ma ma coo sa...." :)

I can't even sit here and name 1 favorite Michael Jackson song. All of 'em are just insane. But if I had to pick it'd be Billie Jean.
When I heard he was sick, I just thought he'd get better and move on. Then ppl said he was dead and I still didn't believe it because we all know how quick ppl can spread nasty rumors. But when it turned out to be true, a part of me just went down.

Like I wanted to cry but I couldn't. I'm just 2 bummed out right now. I can only imagine what the jackson family is going through and my heart goes out to them seriously.

This doesn't feel real to me but I know that it is. I'm just. . .

There are no words to describe the feeling I felt when I heard the news. Music being a passion of mine and knowing that Michael Jackson influenced almost if not all of the artists I listen to, it was very emotional. As for picking a favorite Michael song, that's like picking which parent is better, you have to love all his songs for what they are and the effort that he put into them. My favorite video, however, is the Rock With You video. Something about the vibe and the lyrics always lift my spirts. Michael will forever be missed and loved. His legacy will live on for as long as music stays alive!

I smiled hearing stories of people blasting his music, getting out of their cars at red lights and just start dancing in the street. I got home, and it hit home, and the waterworks started. MJ will never be forgotten...I was actually fortunate to meet Michael Jackson in person, it was 3 years ago at a toy drive where I live in Las Vegas. It was crazy because no one knew that he was in town and he called one of the dj's from the Morning Zoo and told him that he was on his way down and that he wasn't allowed to tell anyone on the radio, luckily since my family were good friends with them he told us and we were allowed to stay up there with him but we couldn't like interupt their interview...well about 10 minutes later he walked up the stairs and entered the gate and it was amazing THE KING OF POP was standing before my eyes and I for sure knew that it was really him by just his demeanor...he talked with them then he actually came and talked to my mom and she introduced all of my fam and we got to take pictures and talk...he was incredibly nice and I'm definately never gonna forget him...R.I.P MJ

In so many words, it hurts. As a child I recall partaking in many of the actions listed above (imitating his moves, dressing as him for Halloween etc....) and parading around the house singing thriller lol!!!!! His music was just phenomenal and touched basis with all genres of music. No, his music has no genre. He himself was music and still is. No one will ever take his place nor erase his legacy. I tried to refrain from crying but when my 3yr old niece came to me and asked "who is Michael Jackson?" that was it for me. I immediately burst into tears because I grew up listening to him, listening to real music, and witnessing history in my time. He created a path and broke down barriers for many artists of the future. I may have not known him personally, but his lifetime achievement has left my soul amazed. Sure, we all had made our share of jokes featuring him; but, through them all, each of us respected his craft and will continue to do so in the future. What I love most about Michael is that through all of his trials and tribulations, not once had I ever saw him with his head held down. He always had a smile on his face and an everlasting love for life. Rest in peace Michael.... Rest in peace. ~Ila Adrianne~

The King of Music
I may not have known Michael Jackson personally but his music really touched my life. I remember when he was on concert on tv one day with his brothers, my parents couldn't stop dancing and in their faces you can see they were taken to another place. For that one minute, they forgot about their problems b/c of his music. Michael Jackson was THEE King of Music, I don't care what anyone says. He kept us in awe and always became better with age. Not many people can do that AT ALL and some people lose that " spark" also as they become older. Doesn't matter if you were the biggest MJ fan, but I know everyone has at least ONE MJ favorite record that they can play in repeat. He was more than a musician, he truly brought the world together with his music. He is truly an illustration that you can perfect your craft, all you have to do is genuinely love it and give 150%. The Jacksons are in my prayers and everyone who is mourning.. he wouldn't want us to be sad but celebrate his life and continue to keep his legacy alive so that our great, great, great grandchildren can feel what REAL SOUL music can take you.

BTW Now its time for artists like you Trey to step it up, because you truly have that spark factor. It's only a matter of time until everyone in the world sees it. Continue becoming better, I can't wait until we're older and people reminsce about the impact you had in their lives :).

I had fallen inlove with Michael the first time I saw him and Paul McCartney in the 'Say, Say, Say' video. Back in 1984...I was only 4yrs old. And I don't remember much from back then, but I have always remembered that moment. I was inlove, and then Thriller came out, omg...I was inlove and frightened at the same time.

Over the years, I fell more and more inlove with this genius. Even when people were throwing stones at him, I was still a fan. My admiration didn't cease at all.

I have so many favorite songs and memories that include a soundtrack of Michael's hits. I will always love him and there will never be an artist like him. He is and was in a class all by himself. No one could/can compare.

I hate that he passed without truly knowing how so many more still loved him. He didn't have a normal life and people were so cruel.

At his age and with his success he should have been able to enjoy life, 24/7. Not just when he's on stage or with his kids. I know he's at peace and in heaven. His legacy will live on for generations.

My future kids will know about him before their able to talk. Its a mission of mine, and he'll be on their playlist. LOL =)

I'm praying for his parents & kids, and the rest of his family. I know it has to be difficult especially when you can't go anywhere or turn on the tv or radio without hearing negative things about your loved one.
I'm blasting his music to the heavens every day forever so he'll always know how much his fans adored him and miss him!
